2012: More than Just a Doomsday Movie

If you are looking for a review of a John Cusack movie, you are looking in the wrong place. But the film does serve as a springboard for investigating the buzz stirred up on almost 600,000 websites about the prophecy of a potential impending apocalypse. This prophecy is not the same as that predicted for the meltdown of computer processors and subsequent collapse of telecommunication and database systems on January 1st, 2000. There are in fact several ancient civilizations that have independently predicted significant change occurring in the year 2012. Pop culture and apparently Hollywood, gladly fueling the wildfire and reaping the benefits, have only recently caught on.... Modern science has also predicted a potentially catastrophic asteroid collision in 2012.
